I’ve listened to the Lion Boy Trilogy several times and continue to enjoy it. The plot of the story was also very lacklustre. Normally, I am opposed to reading fantasy but this book just stood out. However this plan is foiled with the help of local cats and a conspiracy of gondoliers. The Truth Zizou Corder.

When they realise that Charlie is missing, his parents, Claudio, the King of Bulgaria and of course the Young Lion and Elsina set sail in order to get him back.

Narrowly escaping drowning, they arrive there and are met by a few surprises: Ninu is a bit of a deus ex machina, but lovable anyway.

Because the characters were all crammed into this story, none of them really got a chance to do much. We don’t really learn anything new about the Corporacy that wasn’t already revealed in book one. His actions help reveal a common theme to me.

This is their third novel – the last in a trilogy that has sold more thancopies so far in the UK alone. His amount of motivation astonishes me. Amazingly enough, this turns out to be a circus boat. We knew why the Allergenies were being produced right from the first book. The lions are tracking him down, along with Charlie’s parents. There are hints of a Corporacy capitalizing on this, and a few science-y aspects are thrown in for good measure.

The story’s one saving grace is Charlie, who has really developed over the course of the trilogy. I love this children’s trilogy.
