I have yet to meet anyone who moved from theism to agnosticism to atheism who did not go through a multitude of sometimes agonizing deconvwrted and emotions, because it is not a case of simply flipping a switch but, as Andrews says in the title, is a journey. The book did not disappoint.
From then on things spiraled and he started to “take his head out of his ass”, as he put it. It is a personal story, read by the person involved, who moved from faith to reason decknverted the consequences of following through on this new world view. Live life with a sense deconvdrted joy and wonder. Moreover, as you read the story, you’ll see what a natural leader he is in building his own community and using his natural talents. The author thought the same about himself.

Seth is a professional radio presenter and it shows! It was narrated with warmth and enthusiasm just like Seth’s podcasts! Fascinating to listen to seths journey It was fascinating and entertaining to listen to this book. Seth doesn’t include very many personal details, in fact ssth doesn’t even mention when, or that, he’d been married until he speaks about being on the verge of divorce. I will admit, out of the three books this was the one I was most looking forward to reading. He has a very personable voice and a spark of life that comes out in his broadcasting that you just can’t get on paper. While this little memoir is not great literature, it’s an interesting life’s journey for a good little Christian boy raised in a good Christian home in Oklahoma, smack in the middle of the bible belt.
Andrews has gathered some of the gorier and more contradictory aspects of the Bible that are usually ignored or rationalized by believers provided they actually read their holy book, which is less common than you might expect. Before he founded TTA, Andrews led a very different life — he was a Christian radio broadcaster and one of the outspoken faithful. But as the saying goes: It’s a good book Seth, not a perfect book no such thingbut a good book.
It may not “deconvert” you, but it should radically alter their perspectives about why atheists are atheists. Probably not, just a bit too long, unless you are driving or flying cross country. Encroaching on 40, he found himself at the end of a year marriage, alone; isolated and scared.
deconvwrted I completely understand how difficult it must be for a parent to spend so much time and so many resources in a genuine attempt to protect a beloved child from hell. This is another reminder the world needs after being told someone is an atheist. Seth opened up a new world for me.
