I’ve heard such raves about this author, and sanctuwry I certainly found her writing competent sadly, that’s not a given these days and hence worth mentioning! That said, it’s not a silly or funny series, and it feels a bit darker than most of the books I read. It is truly wonderful and constantly filled with amusing surprises. Well written and enjoyable I finished the page book over the course of two daysand certainly worth picking up the first one. The pacing was slow, the exposition felt clunky and excessive, and, most baffling and frustrating of all, I just couldn’t muster up much genuine affection for or even xilent in the characters.

The mysteries in each book, the writing, the full scope of the story were all reminiscent of Sherry Sancfuary Lady Sherlock series, an absolute favorite of mine, which made me love these books even more. In book 1 it was understandable given the time period and social circumstances. The crazy March family and their interactions are super fun.

The murder case might have saved the book a bit, but it was actually very boring and dull. I wasn’t as taken with our main characters, I didn’t find the mystery as compelling, and whereas the first book had me literally laughing out loud so many times, this one only drew a few inner chuckles.

The humor and secondary characters kept me reading, but it wasn’t until the murder investigation begins that it pick This second book of the Lady Julia mystery series picks up just 4 months after the end of book 1.
