I enjoyed reading it, and I will more then likely read through it again. This is the first Brian Keene book that I have read and it is a guarantee that I will be reading more. There are two scenes in GHOUL that keep me up at night, neither of which deal with the actual ghoul which was extremely scary. Keene is in bad company for using said theme because he definitely isn’t, but the theme just isn’t one that I find to be even slightly scary.
Three best friends are looking forward to an endless summer of yhoul and adventures. What could seem tacky and cheap works here because of the authenticity in its presentation. And finally, as I mentioned above, there is a lot of name dropping of bands, shows, movies kkeene products thrown in here in the name of establishing a familiarity with the reader.
