This book has also been translated from Turkish to English; so there are some errors in translation, but it does not ruin story. Aylin is a biographical novel that starts with an attention aayse prologue describing the circumstances surrounding her mysterious death. Supporting characters like her sister and niece came across much more convincingly to me, but I thought the male characters were frequently flat. And kuli in essence is perhaps what is wrong with the story I think this woman’s life deser I read this entire book thinking that what I was reading was a novel with a plotline made up out of thin air.

This woman lived five lifetimes in one. Several of Kulin’s novels and one short story collection have been published in English language translation.

She has married twice, her latest novels Hayat and Huzun describe her life with her spouses, Mehmet Sarper and Eren Kemahli. Is this book based on an actual living or deceased person?

The prologue, presenting Aylin’s funeral after her mysterious death, is written in an embarrassingly maudlin way; fortunately, the rest of the book is a much better read. Now, I’m not saying that characters have to be perfect, not at all. But even her ex is now dead.


Kulin worked as a screenwriter, cinematographer and producer for many films, television series and advertisements. And, we learn all about Aylin’s life.
